Family Caregiver Program for Hanford Nuclear Workers

Become a licensed, paid caregiver for your loved one – training provided at no cost.

For many current and former Hanford nuclear workers, long-term health concerns can become part of life after years of dedicated service. The EEOICPA program offers meaningful support for these workers, and one of the most impactful benefits is the option for in-home care provided by someone they already know and trust.

When a loved one becomes ill, it’s natural to step in and help. What many families don’t realize is that if your family member has been approved for in-home care through EEOICPA, you may be eligible to become a licensed caregiver and receive hourly compensation for the care you already provide.

Chinook Home Health Care is here to make that process easy. We walk you through every step of the training and state licensing—completely free of charge—so you can confidently and safely support your loved one right at home while being compensated for your time and commitment.

If you’d like to learn more about becoming a family caregiver, call us today at (509) 491-3821.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I Need to be Licensed to Become a Caregiver? No prior license is required. Chinook Home Health Care provides all the training needed to become a state-licensed caregiver—at no cost to you. Our training is supportive, approachable, and designed for individuals with no healthcare background. After licensing, a skilled nurse will continue to offer oversight and guidance to ensure your loved one receives safe, high-quality care.
  • Who is Considered a “Family Member”?Even though it’s called a Family Caregiver program, your caregiver does not need to be a blood relative. You may choose anyone you trust to provide your in-home care. Spouses, adult children, nieces, nephews, close friends, or even longtime neighbors. The person you choose will simply need to complete the required training and licensing.
  • How are Caregivers Compensated?Family caregivers are hired as employees of Chinook Home Health Care. You’ll receive an offer of employment with an agreed-upon hourly wage based on the hours you work. We handle all onboarding and payroll in a clear and transparent manner.
  • How Many Hours Can I Work?Approved care may range from a monthly visit to full 24/7 coverage. Once authorized hours are determined, we help create a schedule that works for both you and the claimant. Your hours will depend on the number of care hours approved by the Department of Labor. These vary based on your loved one’s Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and/or Impairment Rating.
